Scott Mansfield named NOC Enid baseball head coach

New Northern Oklahoma College Enid head baseball coach Scott Mansfield.

ENID, Okla. — Scott Mansfield has been hired to lead the Northern Oklahoma College Enid baseball program as the new head coach.

“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity from (NOC President) Cheryl Evans, (NOC Athletic Director Jeremy) Hise, and coach (Raydon) Leaton entrusting me with the future of Jets baseball,” Mansfield said in a release announcing the hire.

Mansfield will take over the program after former head coach Raydon Leaton stepped down to accept the vice president's role at the Enid campus on July 25. Leaton was hired in 2000 and served as the head coach for 19 years, building up the program and leading it to several record-breaking seasons and four NJCAA Division II World Series trips. He helped lead the Jets to a World Series championship during the 2019 season, his last as the team’s head coach.

Mansfield served as Leaton’s assistant coach, pitching coach and recruiter for nine years.

“Scott is an excellent hire to continue the Jets’ baseball tradition,” Leaton said in the release. “He has been the main recruiter for the last nine years and the program has experienced tremendous success on the field and in the classroom. I’m sure the returning players, as well as the freshmen, are excited to see him taking over the program. He is well respected in the baseball community and he understands the culture of NOC Enid baseball.”
