ENID, Okla. — The Enid Majors return home Tuesday after going 2-0 in the rain-shortened Hooper Showcase in McPherson, Kan., this past weekend.
The Majors (16-3) defeated the Wichita Aviators 10-1 and then downed the McPherson Bullpups 5-2 for a sweep of their Friday games. The Saturday slate of games was completely wiped out by the rain.
Brett Russell's three-run home run paced the Majors' five-inning rule-rule win over Wichita. The Majors needed only four hits in plating 10 runs. The Majors' offense was nearly as efficient, scoring five runs on only five hits, in their win over McPherson,
The Majors currently find themselves riding a five-game winning streak — and are winners in nine of their last 10 games — as they welcome the OKC Broncos for Tuesday's 5 p.m. doubleheader at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. The Majors continue their brief homestand on Wednesday with a 5 p.m. doubleheader against the Oklahoma Mudcats before heading to Hammon to face the Mudcats on the road on Thursday.
The Majors will then have a break in their schedule in compliance with Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association's recently mandated "dead period" from June 29-July 7.
Looking further ahead, the Majors will host longtime rival Woodward Travelers on July 8 and then host the Connie Mack State Tournament July 10-14 and the Connie Mack National Regional July 17-21.
