YMCA swim meet in Enid Saturday
The Denny Price Family YMCA Water Rockets will be the only team in the field when they host a YMCA-sanctioned meet at 9 a.m. Saturday.
That won't spoil the fun for Water Rockets coach Kathi Black.
The meet will be the first for many of the team's younger swimmers. It will count as one of the two meets a swimmer must participate in to qualify for the YMCA state meet in August. The Water Rockets will host another meet July 16.
"They can set a time and find out what they need to work on," Black said. "We're going to have some fun. If no one else is there, we can compete against ourselves.
"The YMCA is about letting everybody swim."
The Water Rockets are in the second year of a joint effort with the Aquatic Club of Enid. Most of the ACE swimmers started competitively at the YMCA.
