SHAWNEE — Kerryn Sarwansingh took his first-ever individual championship in leading the Plainsmen to the boys championship of the St. Gregory’s invitational cross country meet Thursday.

Sarwansingh had a time of 18:54 on the course Enid coach Joe Miranov said was three-tenths of a mile too long.

The Plainsmen had 49 points compared to 55 for Tulsa Kelley and 66 for Edmond North.

Tim Richard was second with a time of 19:03. Other EHS times were Joel Dutton, fifth, 19:21; Daniel King, 20th, 20:46; Colton Purdy, 21st, 20:51; Chris Majors, 22nd, 20:56; and Andrew Krush, 32nd, 21:34.

“Kerryn had one of the best races he ever had,’’ Miranov said. “The boys really ran tough.’’

The girls were fifth with 125 points. Myranda Brown went down after the first mile with an injury.

Other EHS times were Riley Buckley, seventh, 15:24; Una Kim, 23rd, 16:58; Brittni Walton, 30th, 17:57; Jill Hibbets, 31st, 18:07 and Constance Thompson, 34th, 19:45.

Daniel Martens was 15th in the boys JV race with a time of 22:45. In the girls, Polly Smith was 39th (23:03) and Courtney Piroska was 40th (23:11)
