Local race fans can get an early jump on the Independence Day fireworks this week.

Enid Speedway is hosting its annual Independence Day card on Wednesday featuring races in three divisions and a post-race fireworks show. The Sooner Late Models, sport modifieds and pure stocks are all slated to be in action.

Travis Johnson claimed victory at Enid Speedway on June 1 in the combined Sooner Late Model vs. NCRA challenge. Kip Hughes took the Sooner Late Model checkered flag on opening night, April 20.

Joe Adams sits atop the points standings in the sport modified series. Adams claimed victory at Enid Speedway on April 20. Robert Elliott owns the other sport mod victory this season on June 1 at Enid Speedway.

Leading the points race in the pure stock class is Mark Smith, followed by Brad Costello and Dakotah Stewart. Smith won the pure stock A-feature to open the season. Stewart took the checkered on June 1.

The track's schedule has fallen victim to the weather on several occasions this season, however, the forecast looks clean and green for Wednesday's card.

Tickets for Wednesday start at $15 for adults. Seniors, military and students ages 12-15 are $12. Kids under 12 are free. Pit passes are available for $30. Gates open at 5 p.m., followed by hot laps at 7 and racing at 8.

Enid Speedway is located on the Garfield County Fairgrounds at 111. W. Purdue.
