GARBER — Koy Hughes has been named interim head football coach at Garber following the departure of Blake Lamle, who has accepted the head football coach position at Medford.

Hughes was recently named the Wolverines’ head baseball coach and assistant football coach under Lamle. Hughes spent the past two seasons as the head coach of the Waukomis Chiefs football team, going 10-12 and making the playoffs in each of the past two seasons. Hughes also guided the Chiefs baseball team for the past three years, going 38-39.

Lamle departs after one season at Garber, going 2-7. Lamle previously coached at Shattuck. He succeeds Brian Haynie at Medford, who went 12-10 in two years with the Cardinals, making the playoffs in each season.

It is anticipated Hughes will have the interim tag removed from his title and officially be named the Wolverines head football coach.
