Hoops festival returns to Stride Bank Center

Stride Bank Center hosts the Downtown Enid Basketball Festival Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2, 2020. 

ENID, Okla. — The annual Downtown Enid Basketball Festival makes its return Friday and Saturday at Stride Bank Center with enough hoops action likely to satisfy even the most rabid prep basketball fan.

A total of 28 teams from 14 high schools will be participating in this year's event, beginning with Alva taking on Riverside Friday at 11 a.m. and concluding Saturday evening with Minco and Frontier. Enid schools Chisholm and Oklahoma Bible Academy are among the participants, including area schools Cashion, Lomega, Hennessey, Garber and Watonga.

Here is a brief look at the lineup with girls records and tip-off times listed first:


Alva (17-1, 4-15) vs. Riverside (11-9, 15-5) 11 a.m. / 12:30 p.m. Alva girls, winners of both the Wheat Capital and Cashion County Line tournaments, are currently ranked No. 6 in Class 3A. Riverside's boys are currently ranked No. 12.

Frontier (15-5, 10-10) vs. Vici (18-2, 17-3) 1:40 p.m. / 3 p.m. Vici's girls are ranked No. 5 in Class A and the boys No. 7. Frontier's girls are No. 18 in Class A.

Cashion (10-4, 13-1) vs. Chisholm (10-7, 7-10) 4:20 p.m. / 5:40 p.m. Cashion's boys are No. 3 in Class 2A and Cashion girls are No. 10. The Lady Longhorns hold down the No. 19 spot in the Class 3A rankings.

Hooker (12-5, 16-1) vs. Perry (8-8, 13-4) 7 p.m. / 8:20 p.m. Friday wraps up with a marquee boys matchup. Hooker comes in at No. 10 in Class 2A on a nine-game winning streak to face No. 7 Class 3A Perry, runner-up in this year's Wheat Capital Tournament.


Lomega (19-2, 14-7) vs. Hennessey (6-9, 12-3) 11 a.m. / 12:20 p.m. Saturday begins with a matchup featuring three ranked teams. The No. 1 Class B Lomega girls are fresh off another Cherokee Strip Tournament title. Lomega's boys are ranked No. 13 and will face No. 13 Class 3A Hennessey.

Garber (17-2, 16-4) vs. Hooker (12-5, 16-1) 1:40 p.m. / 3 p.m. Garber's boys and girls are each coming off Skeltur Conference Tournament championships. The boys are currently ranked No. 4 in Class B and the girls are No. 6. Hooker plays its second set of games of the weekend.

OBA (9-9, 8-10) vs. Watonga (10-5, 8-8) 4:20 p.m. / 5:40 p.m. The Lady Trojans come in fresh off an impressive championship run at the NEO Tournament this past weekend, posting a 10-point win over Class 2A Nawota in the title game. Watonga's boy took third at the Coyle Tournament.

Minco (8-8, 14-3) vs. Frontier (15-5, 10-10) 7 p.m. / 8:20 p.m. The action wraps up with the No. 6 Class 2A Minco boys. Frontier, like Hooker, sticks around for a second day of games.
