Enid lost 6-3 to longtime rival Ponca City in Enid's first home football game of the season at D. Bruce Selby Stadium.

The Plainsmen led 3-0 after one period on a 22-yard field goal by Victor Vega. The Wildcats tied the score near halftime.

Ponca scored again in the fourth quarter to go up 6-3, and the Plainsmen lost a chance to tie the game when a 25-yard field goal went wide with 4:40 left in the game.

Enid, 0-2, will have a bye next week and will return to action Sept. 20 at Bishop McGuinness. The teams have played three times, with the Irish winning each, including 31-7 last year.
