Thanksgiving celebration information needs clarification

I would like to thank Pastor Galbreath for his letter in Friday’s (11/7/08) paper. It gives me the opportunity to clarify some information about the community Thanksgiving celebration.

First of all, it will cost nothing to attend the service with the children performing prior to the concert. There will be a section reserved for those attending the service but not desiring to stay for the concert.

Secondly, efforts were made to make the concert free for the community. Even though free wasn’t possible, because of the generosity of our sponsors the price of tickets that normally would cost $40 to $75 are available to all for only $10.

While the Thanksgiving services in various individual churches with the children singing are very successful, they failed to have a sense of a “community” service. With some creative planning, I think we can do both rather than either or.

I hope everyone will avail themselves of this service and concert to come together to celebrate as a community that has so much to be thankful for.

Football team members deserve recognition

I would like to take this time to recognize the Waukomis High School football team for having a good season, despite not having a winning record. The boys from my point of view played tough this season. They played hard every game from the opening kickoff until the final buzzer sounded. Every game each player gave 100 percent on both sides of the ball. They had to deal with quite a few injuries this season, but they fought through them. Players were moved to positions they had never played before. I would just like to say I am very proud of each and everyone of you for being a team player.

Waukomis parent and proud fan

Curtis Clark, Waukomis.
