Our family has subscribed to the Enid newspaper since Mr. Garber was the publisher decades ago. We used to have two editions, The Enid Morning News and in the afternoon The Enid Daily Eagle with plenty of new news for each edition. I’ve always been proud of our hometown newspaper, and there is just something special about holding a newspaper in your hands.

I can’t say I was offended by the editorial cartoon on the Opinion page of the Tuesday, Aug. 27, edition because that’s part of the problem in this country is that everybody is offended by everything. I was more than just a little amazed, though, at the cartoon labeled “Trump Country.” It pictured a girl laying on a sofa on the front porch with unshaven legs and grandpa standing there with a boot on his head. It kinda took me back to the campaign and Hillary’s deplorables speech.

It seems to this ol’ cowboy that maybe if both parties would focus more on the problems of this nation and helping our own citizens we’d be a whole lot better off. Sounds kinda like that ancient Roman fella that liked to play the fiddle while his country was in trouble. Nero, I think they called him. But then again, I guess I don’t understand all I know about it. Take care.
