When the Enid Event Center opened in 2013, an abundance of country music performers led some residents to call for more diverse genres of music.
Now known as the Stride Bank Center, the venue is offering some more rocking acts to the arena, and even dabbling in disco and adult contemporary music.
KC and the Sunshine Band, which slated for the Ultimate Disco Cruise in 2020, will perform 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at Stride Bank Center.
KC and the Sunshine Band formed in 1973, topping the charts with singles “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “Get Down Tonight” and “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty.” The band has sold more than 100 million and received numerous awards.
Kenny G, a staple on adult contemporary and smooth jazz radio stations, will perform live at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Stride Bank Center.
Because he does not improvise much — sticking mostly to predictable melody statements — his music largely falls outside of jazz.
However, because he is listed at the top of “contemporary jazz” charts and is identified with jazz in the minds of the mass public, he is classified as jazz.
With Oscar accolades for the “Bohemian Rhapsody” film, Queen is popular once again, resulting in the reboot of a rock musical experience created in 2002. The Queen-inspired “We Will Rock You” rock musical is happening at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Stride Bank Center.
ZZ Top, a classic rock band that needs no introduction, is already inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ZZ Top will perform its 50th Anniversary Tour at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Stride Bank Center in Enid.
If you want to rock, we advise you to purchase tickets before this show sells out.
For all three eclectic events, tickets can be purchased online at StrideBankCenter.com, via phone at (855) TIX-ENID or by visiting the Stride Bank Center box office.
