Presumed gone since the season ended in the first round of the playoffs, Markieff Morris’ Oklahoma City departure became all but official Wednesday.
The power forward, who was acquired at the All-Star break of last season, and who replaced Patrick Patterson in Thunder rotation, has agreed to a contract with the Detroit Pistons, according to Shams Charania, who covers the NBA for The Athletic.
Morris came to OKC from the Washington Wizards, for whom he averaged 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds, while playing 26 minutes per outing, in 34 games last season.
In 24 games with the Thunder, Morris averaged 6.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 16.1 minutes.
Morris will be entering his ninth NBA season since being drafted 13th overall in 2011 following his junior season at Kansas.
