The days of Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City are over, and gone too is an entire era of NBA basketball in the Sooner State.
Here's how Twitter reacted to news that Westbrook had been traded to the Houston Rockets.
City of Oklahoma City:
Associated Press NBA writer Jon Krawcynski:
*Takes story on pros and cons of Wolves bringing in Russell Westbrook.— Jon Krawczynski (@JonKrawczynski) July 12, 2019
*Crumples it up.
*Throws it in trash.
The Athletic NBA writer Michael Lee:
When you hear folks say James Harden & Russell Westbrook go way back, they really go way back. And that's way before the OKC days from 2009-12. They both started playing basketball at the same Challengers Boys & Girls Club in South Central LA. This is a reunion they've longed for— Michael Lee (@MrMichaelLee) July 12, 2019
Sports Illustrated NBA writer Chris Mannix:
James Harden and Russell Westbrook — whose friendship remained strong even after Harden was traded — thrived together in OKC. But that was a lifetime ago. Westbrook and Harden are two of the highest usage rate players ever. Interested to see how Rockets make this work.— Chris Mannix (@SIChrisMannix) July 12, 2019
ESPN's Jake Trotter:
Btw... CP3, Danilo, Adams, SGA, Noel, Ferguson, Roberson... that’s not a horrible team, though I doubt the dealing is done— Jake Trotter (@Jake_Trotter) July 12, 2019
ESPN NBA writer Zach Lowe:
That is fantastic return for OKC. Cannot believe the old Thunder are all gone, and that two reunite in Houston. Rockets gave up more assets than I thought anyone would, let's see if they can make it work. Russ attacking close outs, Harden getting more spot up 3s is interesting.— Zach Lowe (@ZachLowe_NBA) July 12, 2019
Former OU offensive lineman/radio host Gabe Ikard:
