Sex offender charged with rape by instrumentation, manufacturing child porn

Grant County Sheriff's Office

A Kay County sex offender was charged last month with felony counts of rape by instrumentation and manufacturing juvenile pornography.

William Don Dollarhide, 43, of Nardin, faces five years to life without parole on the charge of rape by instrumentation and no more than 20 years, no more than a $25,000 fine or both imprisonment and fine on the child pornography charge.

Dollarhide is accused of touching a girl under the age of 12 on or about May 12 in Grant County. He also is accused of "willfully manufacturing child pornography" by creating a video of the same girl.

According to the charges, Dollarhide has three prior convictions for possession of child pornography stemming from a 2010 Kay County case.

According to affidavits filed in the case, Grant County Sheriff's Office was contacted May 12 by a mother who said her 11-year-old daughter told her she'd been touched by Dollarhide.

The woman said her daughter told her Dollarhide wanted her to keep a secret, according to the affidavit. When the woman asked what the secret was, the girl said Dollarhide had put his hand down her panties and it hurt.

The woman said when she confronted Dollarhide about what she was told, Dollarhide apologized to her, according to the affidavit. She said Dollarhide admitted to touching the girl and then showed the woman a video on his laptop that had her daughter in it. The woman said that is when she contacted the sheriff's office.

Deputies asked Dollarhide what had happened and he said it happened like the woman said it did, according to the affidavit.

According to online court records, Dollarhide is free on $80,000 bond and is scheduled for a bond appearance July 16 on the two charges.
