SOUTHARD, Okla. — Road work will force the closure of Oklahoma 51A near Southard in Blaine County staring Monday.

Oklahoma 51A will be closed between Oklahoma 51 and Oklahoma 58 north of Southard at 8 a.m. Monday through winter as part of a bridge rehabilitation project and a surface repair project, according to Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Detour is westbound Oklahoma 51 to northbound Oklahoma 58 through Longdale.

The bridge rehabilitation project was awarded to BridgeCo Contractors in May and is set to cost about $900,000. The surface repair project was awarded to J&R Sand Co. in July and is set to cost $2.7 million. The road will remain closed until both projects are complete, which is expected in the winter, according to ODOT.
