SEILING, Okla. — In Dewey County, Seiling residents approved an ordinance extending — to Dec. 31, 2024 — the levy of an existing excise tax of 1 percent upon the gross proceeds delivered from all sales taxable under the state sales tax law, said Town Clerk Shara Feuerborn.

The tax is used for operating, maintaining, equipping, repairing and improving the nursing home facility owned by the town. Feuerborn said it was the first time the tax has gone before voters for renewal.

The vote was 186-44, or 80.9 percent, for the ordinance.
