ENID, Okla. — Enid Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning near Crosslin Park.
Capt. Tim Jacobi said officers received a report after midnight of a suspicious person in the 3600 block of North Lincoln.
"Officers found a 22-year-old male who said he’d been shot near the area of Crosslin Park," Jacobi said. "The man had a small hole in shirt and what appeared to be a superficial injury to his chest."
Life EMS was called to the scene to treat the man.
"The victim became uncooperative with EMS and refused further treatment and left the scene," Jacobi said. "Later in the morning he again called for an ambulance to bring him to St. Mary’s, where they discovered he had a small-caliber gunshot wound to the chest."
The man was transported from St. Mary's Regional Medical Center to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City for further treatment.
Jacobi said the incident remains under investigation.
