The 27th annual United Way Chili Cook-Off will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in Enid Event Center.
The theme is “Transforming Lives; One Bowl at a Time!” Money raised benefits United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma.
Tickets are $5, which includes a drink, chili and dessert, and may be purchased at the door.
The Chili Cook-Off Committee anticipates at least 40 chili entries to compete in three categories: Judge’s Choice, Top Dollar Chili and Best Booth. Tasting begins at 11 a.m.
The theme, “Transforming Lives; One Bowl at a Time,” humorously fits in well with the Campaign theme of, “Plug in to United Way; Transform Lives!” said Pamela Ballard, executive director of United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma.
All funds raised benefit the 15 partner agencies of United Way. Those partner agencies are Booker T. Washington Center, Cimarron Council Boy Scouts, American Red Cross, Community Development Support Association, Consumer Credit Counseling, Denny Price Family YMCA, Enid Community Clinic, Enid Metro Commission, Child Advocacy Council, Hedges Regional Speech and Hearing Center, Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma, RSVP, Salvation Army, YWCA of Enid and Youth and Family Services. Funds also support other local social and human services projects through annual Venture Grants.
