Stolen vehicle recovery

A Crime Stoppers tip led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle at a residence in the 2200 block of West Maple Wednesday morning, Nov. 20, 2019.

ENID, Okla. — Enid Police Department recovered a stolen vehicle Wednesday from the backyard of a residence in the 2200 block of West Maple.

Sgt. Nick John said police received a Crime Stoppers tip reporting the vehicle being concealed in the backyard of a residence on West Maple.

The silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo was reported stolen Nov. 12, 2019, from Lucky's Food Mart, 802 E. Broadway.

The owner of the vehicle said at 7:34 a.m. that morning he left the vehicle unlocked and running in the parking lot of the store. Video surveillance shows a black extended cab pickup pulling up, a woman getting out of the pickup, getting in the driver’s side door of the Monte Carlo and driving away north on 8th.

John said officers investigated the Crime Stoppers tip reporting the car hidden under a shed and covered with a tarp, which led to police obtaining a search warrant for 2214 W. Maple. Officers and detectives served the warrant at 9:50 a.m., locating the Monte Carlo in the backyard.

John said no one was at home when the warrant was served. He said the investigation is ongoing.
