Three people from Enid's Central Christian Church will take tree-trimming supplies to Little Rock, Ark., today so the equipment can be used to help Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The trailer loaded with generators, chain saws and other power tree-trimming machinery will be taken by senior pastor the Rev. John McLemore, his wife Carolyn and Brett Whinery to the Great River Region office in Little Rock. That region covers Arkansas, Louisiana and Missis-sippi.

From there, regional pastor the Rev. Barbara Jones will make the distribution to areas of need.

The equipment, which was purchased through congregation offerings, has been stored at Central Christian Church. It was purchased after the 2002 ice storm, John McLemore said, and has been used on several occasions in response to tornadoes and ice storms.

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Oklahoma is receiving contributions from congregations and individuals to help with the Oklahoma Regional Church's response. Donations can be sent to: Christian Church in Oklahoma, 301 N.W. 36th, Oklahoma City, OK 73118. Congregations and individuals also may contribute directly to Week of Compassion via the Web site www.weekofcompassion.org.
