Virgil and Willene Nimrod, owners of Mid West Cactus of Covington, are sending samples of grubs found in the opuntia pleacantha cactus to Dr. Jorge Santiago-Blay at Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.

Five years ago, the Nimrods found the bank of a ditch in Kingfisher County totally covered with opuntia pleaccanthu cactus.

On July 6, when they returned to the site they saw the grub in these plants. Once the grub enters the plant it is terminal, they said.

They are hoping to find some answers.
