ALVA—A man was killed early Sunday morning when his airplane crashed south of Alva Municipal Airport.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Darin Dean Moser, 44, of Alva, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. The plane crashed about 12:02 a.m. Sunday about three-quarters of a mile south of the Alva airport and one-quarter west of U.S. 281 in a wooded field.

Moser was piloting a Cessna 310 twin aircraft and attempting to land at Alva Municipal Airport in heavy fog. For undetermined reasons, the aircraft lost altitude and struck the ground in the field. The pilot was ejected.
