DOVER — Three teens were injured but only one remained hospitalized Friday night after the pickup they were riding in ran off a dirt road and flipped, ejecting two of the teens, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Katerina Jillian Burton, 16, of Dover, was in good condition with internal trunk injuries at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City after the 3:40 p.m. Friday wreck, according to an OHP report.

Burton was driving a 1998 Ford pickup three miles east of Dover on a county road when she lost control and went into a broad slide. She ran off the north edge of the roadway and rolled one full time. She was ejected from the driver’s window, according to the report.

Burton’s brother, Joseph S. Burton, 14, was taken by ambulance to Kingfisher Hospital and was treated for external trunk injuries and released.

Chuck D. Swisher, 15, of Dover, was ejected from the passenger side window. He was taken by private vehicle to Kingfisher Hospital and checked for injuries. He was treated and released.

The report listed Joseph Burton as the only person wearing a seat belt, and it listed unsafe speed as the cause of the wreck.
