A Cherokee Strip Special Olympics fund-raiser is 8:30-11 a.m. today at Oakwood Bowl.
Sixteen teams are signed up, with each consisting of one Special Olympian and three friends of Special Olympics. Entry fee is $60 per team and includes breakfast, T-shirt for each bowler and bowling fees.
This is the fifth year for the bowling event, and it is the only fall/winter fundraiser for the group.
Donations will be used to fund attendance of the Cherokee Strip Special Olympians travel and expenses for Oklahoma State Special Olympic Winter Games at the University of Oklahoma in January and the Summer Games at Oklahoma State University in May. Funds also will go toward equipment needs for the athletes.
George Pankonin of 4RKids will present a $1,000 check to Cherokee Strip Special Olympics during the event on behalf of the organization.
