Several portions of U.S. 64 are closed due to flooding, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is reporting.

The highway is closed at County Road 640, County Road 690 and at the Highway 58 junction.

A portion of U.S. 81 south of Hennessey also was closed but has since reopened when floodwaters subsided, according to the patrol.

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a flood advisory for Kingfisher County until 11:45 a.m.

At 8:44 a.m. Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to 1 inch of rain has already fallen since 7:45 a.m., according to the NWS. Locations that will experience flooding include Kingfisher, Hennessey, Okarche, Cashion, Dover, Loyal and Lacey.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low-lying spots, according to the advisory. Motorists should not drive into flooded areas or standing water.
