EPS scheduled to sell $8.17 million in bonds

Enid Public Schools Board of Education will meet in a special meeting at noon today to sell $8.17 million in bonds.

The bond sale is intended to fund payments to Garfield County Educational Facilities Authority for 2010 and 2016 bond programs and to produce revenue for bus purchases, said Amber Graham Fitzgerald, Enid Public Schools human resources and communications director.

Voters in the EPS district approved $99.45 million in bonds in February 2010, and almost $93 million in additional bonds in 2016 for new facility construction and to improve safety and security, transportation, technology, fine arts and athletics.

Today's planned bond sale will fund payments on those programs based on an existing lease purchase agreement, Fitzgerald said.

Fitzgerald said the district is scheduled to receive bids for the bond sale at 11:30 a.m. today, and the bids will be produced for the board and public at today's special meeting.

The board also is scheduled to take action on the employment of Stephen H. McDonald & Associates, of Norman, as financial consultant to the district, and will consider an agreement for bond counsel services with Floyd Law Firm of Norman.

The EPS Board of Education meets in the board room of the Administrative Services Center at 500 S. Independence.
