Enid man arraigned on 3 lewd molestation counts

Jason Merworth

ENID, Okla. — A 40-year-old Enid man was arraigned in court Thursday on three counts of lewd molestation accusing him of having inappropriate contact with a 9-year-old girl.

Jason Huber Merworth faces three to 20 years in prison on each felony charge. He was ordered to return to court July 1 for a bond appearance.

Enid Police Department was contacted May 23 by the girl's mother, who reported her daughter's babysitter, Merworth, was molesting her, according to the affidavit.

The girl said Merworth had been touching her inappropriately at her residence in Enid, according to the affidavit. She said the incidents ranged from Merworth touching her "lower girl part" to her "upper girl part." The girl also said Merworth forced her to put her mouth on his "boy part."

Detective Tanner Austin spoke with Merworth and arranged to interview him at the police department, according to the affidavit. Merworth said he knew the 9-year-old girl and said he did babysit for her. During the interview, Merworth placed himself in the incident the girl described but denied the allegations of touching the girl or her touching him.

On May 29, a forensic interview was conducted with the 9-year-old girl.

The girl said she did not know how long ago the incidents occurred but said she was 9 years old when they did, according to the affidavit. She said Merworth touched her "upper girl parts" once and her "lower girl part" five times. She circled the areas on an anatomical photograph.

The girl said Merworth performed oral sex on her, and when she told him to stop said he kept doing it, according to the affidavit. She said when Merworth quit, he told her not to tell anyone or he would do it again. The girl said about three days later, Merworth forced her to touch his "boy part" with her mouth and hand. Again, the girl circled the body part on an anatomical photograph.
