Covington-Douglas Public Schools athletes will attend the state cross country meet Saturday in Shawnee.

The fifth- through eighth-grade football teams will host Pond Creek Monday.

The district academic tourney will be Monday.

Crystal Reinhardt was crowned homecoming queen by king Matt Lee Oct. 14.

Queen candidates were escorted onto the football field on Harley Davidson motorcycles. Covington-Douglas beat Coyle 48-0.

Other homecoming activities included a parade and pep rally on Main Street. The freshman class won best float.



Community



The Covington Senior Citizens Center birthday dinner will be Oct. 28. Members with birthdays in October will eat free and receive a group picture.

The local quilting club will start a new sampler blocks quilt, Eleanor Burns "Quilt in a Day," at Covington Senior Citizens Center. The group meets at 2 p.m. each Thursday. Ceramics also are available for those who wish to paint.

Covington Historical Board met Oct. 10. Wandola Lockridge was there with her family tree and books. She is a member of Germans from Russia. Historical society officials would like copies of family trees for files.

Society members also are making a military scrapbook. Members have a form to fill out for anyone that was in the service. A picture in uniform also would be appreciated.



Church



A fifth Sunday sing will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at Lucien Methodist Church.
