The cause of a fire Tuesday morning at a salvage yard in the 500 block of North 4th remains under investigation.
Enid Fire Department Assistant Fire Marshal Mike Schatz said firefighters responded at 10:11 a.m. to 526 N. 4th on a report of a fire and could see smoke while en route.
Firefighters arrived four minutes after the call and found two trailers involved with flames.
"The fire was contained to two fifth-wheel trailers," Schatz said. "We had a representative from the yard open the gate for us, and there wasn’t supposed to be anybody staying in the trailers at that time. It pretty much destroyed both of them."
He said no one was injured in the fire, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters were called back to the scene at 1:41 p.m. on reports of smoke. Schatz said firefighters found smoldering embers from the morning's fire and re-wet the area.
