ENID, Okla. — Enid Police Department is asking the public for its help in identifying a man responsible for several burglaries to vehicles last week.

During the early morning hours Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, several vehicles were burglarized in the 4800 block of Spring Ridge and the 4600 block of Wheatland in southwest Enid. The items stolen include purses, wallets, cash and a .45 caliber handgun, according to police.

The handgun, which was stolen from a vehicle on Wheatland, was recovered on Spring Ridge Road where the man was burglarizing another vehicle and was chased from the scene by a resident.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned man, about 5-foot, 6-inches tall, with long, curly black hair pulled into a pony tail. He was wearing a black hooded shirt and baggie jeans.

The suspect entered each of these vehicles through unlocked doors. An Enid police spokesman said residents should lock their vehicles and remove or hide valuables.

Anyone with information leading to the arrest or prosecution of this or any crime can report an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at (580) 233-6233, www.enid.org/departments/police or text to 274637, typing “Enid” and a message in the text box.

Those submitting a tip could earn a reward up to $1,000 and will not be required to testify nor be identified.
