ENID, Okla. — Tractor Supply Co., a Tennessee-based retail chain, is opening a new location in Enid, a spokeswoman for the company said Friday.

While an exact opening date has not been announced, she said Tractor Supply plans to have the new store in operation some time in early 2020.

No other information on the upcoming Enid store currently is available, she said.

Lisa Powell, director of Enid Regional Development Alliance, said it's encouraging to see a national retailer choose Enid.

"Retailers go through an extensive analysis of a community before they make a location decision, so the fact they have chosen Enid indicates they believe in our market," Powell said.

The nearest Tractor Supply stores to Enid are in Stillwater, Watonga, Woodward and Guthrie, according to the company website.

The company has more than 1,700 stores in 49 states, according to the website. It started in 1938, when Charles E. Schmidt Sr., of Chicago, opened a mail order tractor parts business. The first retail store came in 1939 in Minot, N.D.

Tractor Supply supplies basic maintenance products to home, land, pet and animal owners, including clothing, equine and pet supplies, tractor/trailer parts and accessories, lawn and garden supplies, sprinkler/irrigation parts, power tools, fencing, welding and pump supplies and riding mowers, according to the website. Based in Brentwood, Tenn., Tractor Supply is a public company whose stock is traded on The NASDAQ National Market under the symbol TSCO. It has annual revenues of approximately $7.91 billion.
