Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP)

WATONGA, Okla. — An accident in Blaine County involving a 15-year-old driver and 10-year-old passenger sent them both to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, an unnamed 15-year-old boy from Conroe, Texas, was driving a 2007 GMC Yukon north on Oklahoma 8 three miles north of Watonga at about 1:12 p.m. Tuesday.

Also in the vehicle was an unnamed 10-year-old boy from Conroe.

According to the OHP report, the driver failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road, went through a fence and struck a tree.

The driver was transported to Mercy Hospital in El Reno, then to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was treated and released for external leg injuries.

The passenger was transported to Mercy Hospital in Watonga, then to OU Medical Center, where he was admitted in good condition with internal injuries, according to the OHP report.

Unsafe speed was listed as the cause of the collision, and both boys were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
