Fundraiser set for tonight at Pioneer

Pioneer Parents for a Safe Prom and Waukomis Masonic Lodge No. 161 will host an Indian taco dinner before the Covington-Douglas and Pioneer basketball games tonight at Pioneer High School cafeteria.

Covington-Douglas families are welcome. Cost is $4, which includes a drink.

Scholarship deadline set

In an effort to promote volunteerism in the community, the Junior Welfare League of Enid is offering a $1,000 scholarship for high school seniors in Garfield County.

In the past, Junior Welfare League had offered the scholarship to students at Phillips University. Active and sustaining members revived the scholarship to encourage and reward volunteerism by youth in the community.

The scholarship may be used for any accredited college, university or technical trade school. All applicants must be a high school senior; must maintain a minumum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; must attend a Garfield County high school; must exhibit a commitment to volunteerism; and must enroll as a full-time student in a private or public post-secondary school.
