More than 200 elementary and junior high school wrestlers are expected to compete in the Chisholm Trail Wrestling Champion-ships, which begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Chisholm Trail Expo Center Coliseum. Enid youth wrestling is expected to have 26 participants -- 10 junior high wrestlers and 16 grade school wrestlers.

Tournament director Shane Kerr is expecting entries from Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri.

Ninth-graders have been working with Kerr, the Enid High School wrestling coach, for about a month. The grade school practices began at the start of October.

"(Elementary school coach Bobby) Trumbley has them going pretty good," Kerr said. "We're ready for some competition."

There will be five age divisions -- 6-under, 8-under, 10-under, 12-under and 15-under.

Medals will be given to the top four finishers. The outstanding wrestler -- as voted by coaches -- in each age division will receive the Levi Craig Outstanding Wrestler Award.

Mitchie Lamle, the secretary for the elementary program, has done an outstanding job getting the tournament ready, Kerr said.

"She's done a ton of paper work," Kerr said. "She's the one that makes this tournament go."
