Poetic words and wine will be offered up to interested patrons this Tuesday at Enid Symphony Center.
The symphony association’s second Summer Wine event will feature Poet Sharon Frye and Friends. Frye’s poetry appears in “the first cut” issues 6 and 7 “Between Earth and Sky,” recently released by Silver Bow Publishing.
Her poem “Risen Heroes” will be inscribed on a sculpture for first responders. It will be commissioned by Dean Thompson of Dallas.
Wine will be provided by Park Avenue Thrift.
Shiver Me Timbers Pirate Bash

The adults-only evening will be “come and go” and will feature a live auction, photo booth, DJ music and prime rib buffet. Guests can dress casual or turn out in pirate attire.

Tour de Trykes
Saturday, Aug. 17
Join bicycle enthusiasts from around the region and raise money for a good cause next Saturday, Aug. 17, in downtown Enid.
Tour de Trykes is an annual Enid event that raises money for AMBUCS, an organization that assists the developmentally disabled. One of AMBCUS’ programs, AmTrykes, increases mobility for people for whom it is difficult.
People participating in Tour de Trykes can bike two miles, 14 miles, 26 miles, 42 miles or 62 miles. The race will start at 7:30 a.m. that Saturday, with pre-registration the day of the race at 6 a.m.
The Twilight Criterium once again will be part of this year’s event festivities. The criterium is a bike race only 0.08 miles long with riders reaching more than 30 miles per hour. It is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Aug. 17. Registration the day of will start at 4 p.m.
