ENID, Okla. — Myriad activities on tap for Cherokee Strip Celebration
Enid’s annual Cherokee Strip Celebration returns this weekend, with lots of events for Enid residents to chose from. The event has been expanded this year to three days, today through Sunday, in downtown Enid.
Today’s events include Western movies 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Public Library of Enid and Garfield County; Cherokee Strip Lunch Rush, including food by Marv’s Cornerstone Grill, live music and entertainment and vendor booths, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Courthouse Lawn; quilt show and cookbooks sale 6-9 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church; Frontier Festival Lantern Tours, 7 p.m. at Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center; and square dance street party, 7 p.m. downtown.
Saturday’s events include the Great Land Run at 7:30 a.m., Enid Farmers Market at 8 a.m. downtown followed by the Be Fit Kids Fun Run at 9 a.m. At 9:30, the Enid Walk of Fame induction ceremony will commence at Cherokee Strip Conference Center plaza, and the OSU Cowboy watch party starts on the courthouse lawn at 9:30 as well.
The Cherokee Strip Celebration Parade will start at 10:30 a.m., followed by entertainment lasting all day long downtown. Afternoon events include the Frontier Festival 1-5 p.m. at the heritage center, a block party 6-8 p.m. at David Allen Memorial Ballpark, a concert by Enid Symphony Orchestra at 6:30 p.m. at the ballpark, and, finally, movie night at the ballpark, “The Lorax,” starting at 8 p.m.
Sunday’s schedule includes St. Matthew’s breakfast and church service at 9:30 a.m. at the heritage center, followed by the “Run to Leonardo’s” family fun festival 2-4 p.m. at Leonardo’s Discovery Warehouse.
‘Til Beth Do Us Part’

Gaslight Theatre is back with another full season of productions, starting with this weekend’s showing of “Til Beth Do Us Part.”
“Til Beth Do Us Part” is a family-friendly comedy directed by Larry King. Cast members include Justin Werner as Gibby Hayden, Tammy Wilson as Suzanna Hayden and Nikki Nixon as Beth Bailey.
Other cast members include Penny Dowell as Margo James, Debbie Kretchmar as Celia Carmichael and Xander Singleton as Hank James.
In addition to this weekend’s showings, there will be three additional showings Sept. 21-23.
