— Memorial Day is a time to remember those who sacrificed their lives for the country, which Enid and area residents can do 10 a.m. Monday at the Memorial Day service at Enid Woodring Regional Airport. The annual service honors those who have served, and highlights soldiers in Oklahoma who have died in the last year. More on the service can be found HERE.
Booths also are set up at Jumbo Foods West, Lowe's and Walmart Saturday to raise money for the Woodring Wall of Honor's project to bring a replica of the Vietnam Wall to the facilities at the airport. Read more about that HERE.
The day also is a time for remembering all loved ones who have died, as traffic will be heavy around local and area cemeteries as grave sites are decorated.
The weekend traditionally is a kick off to summer, as well, as local and area parks open for visitors. There are several parks in Enid available for picnicking, with room for kite flying. Many parks have playground areas for children, and fishing is available and ducks and geese can be fed at Meadowlake Park and Goverment Springs Park.
For a list of parks, go HERE.
The KiwaniTrain will run at Meadowlake Park this year, with hours of 3:30-9 p.m. on weekends and 6-9 on weekdays. The other amusements in the park are missing this summer as a permanent home is being constructed for the carousel. More on the KiwaniTrain can be found HERE.
