Join with the city of Enid in celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. this Sunday at Central Assembly of God’s multi-purpose building, 1202 W. Oxford.
At the celebration, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission will presents its Diversity Awards, as well as announce the winners of this year’s poster and essay contests.
Prior to the celebration, at 11 a.m., a commemorative march will start from Grayson Missionary Baptist Church, 334 E. Garriott. Refreshments will be served following the march.

A Taste of Italy
Enid Symphony Orchestra’s annual pasta gala fundraiser, A Taste of Italy, will be held the evening of Jan. 31 at Enid Symphony Center, 301 W. Broadway.
Events will start with a cash bar and silent auction at 6:30, followed by dinner and complementary wine at 7 in the Eleanor Hornbaker Banquet Hall at the Symphony Center. Dinner will be catered by Panevino.
Silent auction items include fitness memberships to Finer Physiques and Denny Price Family YMCA, a Dooney & Burke handbag donated by Dillard’s, Gaslight Theatre tickets, Tulsa Opera tickets, a glass-fired pasta bowl by Dr. Andrew Kraft, an outdoor grill, coffee from Davinci’s Coffee House and others.
Live Auction items will include Wines Around the World, donated by JB Liquor; jewelry donated by Jackson Diamond Jewelers; a pair of Oklahoma City Thunder tickets; an original work by Joe Lamerton; a menswear package donated by Gary Hulse; two OSU metal design tables donated by A.W. Brueggemann Company; and more.
Among the live auction items will be an opportunity for a dinner for four with Yuri. Yuri Stanislavski Newell is an actor, author and entrepreneur who recently was invited to audition for the title role in the remake of Old Yeller. Tickets to A Taste of Italy are $60 per person. Reservations can be made by calling Enid Symphony Orchestra at (580) 237-9646. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
