A traveling theater group is bringing the adventure and fiascos of a classic TV series to the live stage.
“Scooby-Doo! Live Musical Mysteries,” presented by Warner Bros. and Life Like Touring, will come to Enid Event Center 6:30 p.m. today.
Garrett Lewis Dill plays the role of “Shaggy,” the Mystery Gang’s token funnyman. He said the musical is designed for kids, but parents can enjoy the show, as well.
“Being ‘Scooby-Doo!’, it has those classic antics that parents who watched the show when they were kids love as well,” Dill said.
Dill said parts of the show allow the audience to interact with the characters. The Mystery Gang will ask the audience to sing along whenever they sing the “Scooby-Doo!” theme song at the beginning and end of the show, and they can chime in to help get to the bottom of the mystery.
“Really watching the kids interact with us is such a fun part of it,” Dill said. “We ask questions, and they’re so into it. They’re just really ready and willing to help us solve the mystery, and the parents are just as excited.”
The musical will include some staples from the TV classic like the theme song, but will also add new characters and songs to the mix.
Dill said being able to travel internationally with the cast has been a dream come true, especially because of the upbeat nature of the show.
“I’d never seen much of the states and definitely not the world, so being able to perform this show, it’s such a fun show,” Dill said. “It brings everybody together really, being ‘Scooby-Doo!’ and all. It’s so fun to go out and share that with everyone.”
