D. Bruce Selby Stadium

Get out to D. Bruce Selby Stadium tonight and support the Enid Plainsmen as they take on Booker T. Washington out of Tulsa. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.

Prior to the game, at 7 p.m., the school will crown its homecoming queen.

Also, starting at 5:30 p.m. and lasting until 7:15 p.m., the Greybeards will be hosting a tailgate party outside the stadium. A hot dog or hamburger meal, which includes chips, cookie and drink, will be served for $5.

The football team will be trying to raise their record to 2-2 on the season

American Garfieldi Car Show

6-10 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat.

Meadowlake Park

Join area residents tonight and celebrate the past days of cruising Van Buren — while supporting today’s effort to bring the Vietnam Memorial Wall to Enid.

The American Garfieldi Car and Motorcycle Show begins 6 p.m. today with a cruise starting in the parking lot in front of Locke Supply and Dollar General on North Van Buren. At tonight’s cruise, you can enter to participate in Saturday’s car and motorcycle show. Entry fee is $25, and prizes will be handed out at the Saturday event.

The north side of Meadowlake Park will be the site for the car and motorcycle show. The public can come Saturday and purchase a plate of food for $5 to support the Vietnam Memorial Wall effort.

Other activities and events at the show include a fly-in by the News Channel 4 news team, a screening of football games courtesy of Aaron’s and sno-cones, cotton candy and more activities courtesy of First Baptist Church.

At the show, prizes and contest winners will be announced on 103.1 KOFM. If car owners don’t have a radio, they are encouraged to park next to someone who does.

American Kitefliers Convention

Monday through Oct. 6

Field behind Autry Technology Center

Join kitefliers across America Monday through Oct. 6 in Enid for American Kitefliers Association’s 2012 convention.

The week’s events will begin Monday will a 2:30 p.m. showing of Patang, The Kite, a movie shot in India. The movie will be shown at Autry Technology Center, 1201 W. Willow.

Kitefliers will take to the field behind Autry on Tuesday with an open fly starting at 9 a.m. The field will be separated into five separate fields with several activities going on. Tuesday afternoon activities on the various fields include a sport kite competition at noon on fields 3 and 4, a fighter kite competition at 1:30 p.m. on field 2, and a mass ascension at 1 p.m. on field 1. Field 5 is designated as the public flying field, where anyone can come and fly their kites.

More events will continue throughout the week, concluding with various activities and demonstrations on Oct. 6.

Helena museum holding lunch



Helena Historical Museum will host a German stew lunch and pie and cake contest Oct. 6.

Pie and cake entries will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Ribbons will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners, and the grand champion will receive a gift certificate from Garden Gate Gifts.

Lunch will be served at 11 a.m., which will include German stew, drink and dessert. The historical society’s annual meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m., followed by an auction of the top winning pie and cake entries.

The museum will be open to visitors 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day.



Cimarron days is today, Sat.



Lahoma will celebrate Cimarron Days today and Saturday.

At 7 p.m. today, the town will host the Jr. Miss Cimarron and Miss Cimarron Pageant in the Cimarron Old Gym.

On Saturday, events begin at 8 a.m. with breakfast at Lahoma Baptist Church. The parade will start at 10 a.m. on Main Street in front of the school.

Following the parade is the Cimarron Review at 11:30 a.m., the alumni softball game at 2 p.m., the barbecue dinner and trophy auction at 6 p.m. in the old gym and the alumni baseball game at 7 p.m.
