Garfield County Fair gets into full swing this weekend, and there are plenty of events to choose from.
Today, swine judging begins at 8 a.m., followed by a pie baking contest sponsored by Jumbo Foods at 10 a.m. Commercial booths will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
On Saturday, there is a full schedule of events. At 8 a.m., heifer judging begins, followed by judging for prospect steers and market steers. The horse show starts at 9 a.m., followed by the fresh salsa contest at 10 a.m. in the Coliseum. The final event of the morning is the Superfoods Nutrition Seminar by Barbara Brown at 11 a.m. in the Coliseum.
The Oklahoma WheatHeart Bread Baking Contest tops afternoon events at 2 p.m. in the Coliseum, followed by frog and turtle races at 3 p.m. in the Pavilion. The main event of the day, the Ice Cream Crank-off, starts at 5 p.m. in the Coliseum.
Commercial booths once again will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.
The fair will conclude Monday with the awards presentation at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Premium Sale at 7 p.m.
Oakwood Christian Church, 401 N. Oakwood, hosts Familypalooza 10 a,m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event features games, inflatables, competitions, hayride, face painting, family photos, contests and arts and is billed as free fun for the entire family. Go to myoakwood.org for information.
After the Enid Farmers Market, go to Second Saturday, which features sno cones and free play on the 54' obstacle course on the Courthouse lawn.
Hennessey Wine and Chocolate Festival, 5-7:30 p.m., Memorial Park, Hennessey. Cost is $10 for wine glass and wristband for wine and chocolate tasting; $5 for chocolate only. For more information, call (405) 853-0115.
