Union Pacific train derails in northern Oklahoma

PERRY, Okla. — Authorities say at least 18 rail cars of a Union Pacific train have derailed in northern Oklahoma.

Union Pacific spokeswoman Raquel Espinoza says the train was traveling on tracks paralleling U.S. 77 near Perry when the cars derailed about 10:05 a.m. Thursday. Espinoza says no injuries have been reported and no evacuations were ordered.

She says antifreeze, hydrogen peroxide and fatty acid being transported in some of the cars spilled during the derailment, but the accident occurred in a remote area and no evacuations were ordered.

Espinoza says a team has been dispatched to the site.

She says a Noble County road was closed because of the derailment.
