Reward offered for gun used to kill Oklahoma girls

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation offered a $5,000 reward Friday for a handgun authorities believe was used to kill two Weleetka girls in 2008.

Agents received information about the serial number on the .40-caliber Glock 22 handgun — EKG463US — and are now searching for the weapon, OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown said.

The owner of the gun isn’t suspected in any crimes, but investigators want that person to contact them.

“We want the gun, and if they want the $5,000, we have to get in contact with each other,” Brown said.

Investigators have been trying to determine who killed Skyla Whitaker, 11, and Taylor Paschal-Placker, 13, in June 2008 on a dirt road near Taylor’s home just outside of Weleetka.

According to an autopsy, Skyla was shot eight times and Taylor had five gunshot wounds. Authorities have said one or two killers may have been involved, and more than one weapon appeared to have been used.

The FBI has been helping state investigators look into the crime, which shocked the town of about 900 people about 70 miles south of Tulsa.

“We get leads all the time and we’re constantly running on those,” Brown said. “We’re thankful this has been a good one.

“We just hope the gun information will go a long way in helping solve this case.”
