Storm Prediction Center says slight risk of storms

NORMAN, Okla. — The Storm Prediction Center says there is a slight risk of severer thunderstorms in far southern Oklahoma.

Forecasters in Norman say storms have increased and become better organized in north central Texas. The storms are expected to increase in intensity into Saturday evening. There is a possibility for isolated damaging gusts and even a tornado with the storms.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for parts of southern Oklahoma and northern and central Texas through 10 p.m. The primary threats include hail up to two inches in diameter and strong winds of up to 70 mph.

The watch area stretches from southeast of Brownwood, Texas, to northeast of Ardmore. Forecaster say rain and thunder is expected over much of southeastern Oklahoma this evening.
