BOISE CITY, Okla. —
Boise City police say an Alva man is dead and the gunman is being sought in a shooting outside a convenience store in the Oklahoma Panhandle town.
Police told reporters at the scene the victim was shot outside the Loaf N’ Jug convenience at 1 p.m. Wednesday after parking and getting out of his pickup, which was pulling a camper trailer.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation identified the victim as Charles Nieman, 71, of Alva. His wife was inside the pickup and was not injured.
Police say the victim was approached by a man in the parking lot, who shot him then fled.
Nieman was transported to Cimarron Memorial Hospital in Boise City, where he died a short time later, according to OSBI.
The Boise City police chief requested OSBI assistance with the homicide case. Agents and officers are working numerous leads.
