NORMAN, Okla. —
The NFL announced the Pro Bowl teams on Tuesday and it turned out to be a big day for some Oklahoma alums.
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson earned a Pro Bowl nod for the fifth time in his six-year pro career. He'll be joined in Hawaii by a pair of former teammates who earned their first nods. Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and Washington Redskins offensive tackle Trent Williams were also selected.
McCoy and Williams were part of OU's 2006 recruiting class that went on to produce four first-round picks in the 2010 NFL Draft. Quarterback Sam Bradford went No. 1 overall to the St. Louis Rams. McCoy was the No. 3 overall pick. Williams was the fourth player selected. Tight end Jermaine Gresham went to the Cincinnati Bengals with the No. 21st overall pick.
Gresham was named to last year's AFC Pro Bowl team as an alternate. With Williams and McCoy getting nods this season, 27 former OU players have been selected for the NFL's all-star game.
