Pacers, Birchfield take 'conference' crowns

STILLWATER, Okla. — Enid’s girls won the “Non-Conference Conference’’ cross country meet over Stillwater and Ponca City Tuesday.

Enid’s boys were third, but Dalton Birchfield won the individual race with a time of 18 minutes and 50 seconds over the 5K course.

Enids’ girls had seven runners in the top 12 — Holly Stuart, second, 12:43 over the two-mile course; Andi Pierce, fourth, 13:06; Tyler Berge, fifth, 13:30; Savannah D’Auteuil, seventh, 13:43; Arely Ramirez, 10th, 14:17; Autumn D’Auteuil, 11th, 14:29; and Rachel Pyper, 12th, 14:31.

Abby Resendiz, the Pacers’ No. 1 runner, didn’t compete because of a personal conflict.

Miranov was especially pleased there only was  one minute difference between Stuart, normally the No. 2 runner, and Savannah D’Auteuil, a freshman.

“It had been a minute between the No. 4 and No. 5 runner and now it’s 15 seconds,’’ Miranov said. “That could make a big difference when we go to regionals (Oct. 20).’’

Other Pacers’ times were Lindsay Goldstorm, 14th, 14:40; Crystal Rangel, 19th, 16:02; Emily Alley, 22nd, 16:24; Morgan Cline, 27th, 16:59; and Courtney Anderson, 29th, 18:22.

Other Plainsmen times were Nate House, 14th, 20:23; Jake Taylor, 28th, 21:33; Hunter Childs, 29th, 21:38; Garrett Wallace, 31st, 22:22; Blake Recknagel, 41st, 24:14; Ryan Klasing, 51st, 25:37; and Robert Belisle, 57th, 27:40.

“Both the boys and girls had some good times,’’ Miranov said. “It was a good warmup for regionals.’’

Enid, Ponca City and Stillwater were all members of the Centennial Conference until it was disbanded a few years ago.
