ENID, Okla. —
Enid’s cross country teams get their first out-of-town test today when they go to the Ponca City Invitational.
The Plainsmen were fourth, and the Pacers fifth, at last week’s Enid Invitational at Crosslin Park.
Enid’s boys will have one change in its lineup with Ethan Atwood replacing Troy Gray, who hurt his back.
Garrett Wallace, who was fifth last week, will head the boys lineup. He will be joined by Gavin Lack, Jake Taylor, Nate House and Atwood.
Abby Resendiz and Tyler Berge, who were fifth and ninth at last week’s girls races, head the Pacer lineup. They will be joined by Arely Ramirez, Irene DeLaTorre and Crystal Rangel.
Gabrielle Dick, who was the No. 4 runner for Enid last week, has chosen to return to tennis.
The boys will be running two miles instead of the usual three. The girls will be running one mile instead of the usual two.
“This will be a little tougher course,’’ said Enid coach Joe Miranov. “There’s a lot of turns. If we can have times equalvent to what we did last week, we will have done a good job.
“We had some good quality teams at our meets and we’re hoping for the same at Ponca City. It doesn’t matter, though, who we run against. It’s all about times. We want to get some solid work for the long weekend, and I hope it will show up in their performances.
