EHS softball set to host Sapulpa tonight

ENID, Okla. — Enid softball coach Marsha Cusack is optimistic, with reservations, about the Pacers’ 7 p.m. game tonight at Pacers Field with District 6A-4 rival Sapulpa.

The Chieftains have only won only one game.

“That was the same situation they had last year and they still beat us twice,’’ Cusack said. “If we go out and play ball and take care of business, we should get a win.’’

Sapulpa will go with a freshman pitcher.

The Pacers are 7-15 overall and 2-7 in league play after a 17-3 loss at Westmoore Tuesday.

Cusack still is hopeful the Pacers can finish as high as fifth in the district and get a more favorable playoff opponent.

“I deliberately put our harder road games early,’’ she said. “We can make a lot of mistakes, get frustrated and there’s not a lot of people watching. I think if we can get on a roll, things could work out well for the playoffs.’’

Pitcher Ally Lewis and second baseman Abby Lee have been swinging hot bats for the Pacers.
