OWASSO, Okla. —
Abby Resendiz had her third-straight top 10 finish in leading the Enid girls to a seventh-place finish among 20 teams at the Owasso Ramble Cross Country meet Thursday.
Resendiz, running the two-mile course for the first time this season, finished eighth with a time of 14:02. She was followed by Tyler Berge, 26th, 15:13; Arely Ramirez, 64th, 17:23; Crystal Rangel, 67th, 17:52; Irene DelaTorre, 69th, 18:14; and Kirsten Mazza, 76th, 18:38.
“Abby ran a real smart race,’’ said Enid coach Joe Miranov. “She started slow, but really pushed it in the last mile and it really paid off.’’
The EHS boys were 13th with 321 points.
Garrett Wallace was 35th in 16:19 over the course which was shortened from the usual three miles to 2.5 miles. He was followed by Gavin Lack, 40th, 16:28; Jake Taylor, 59th, 17:02; Nate House, 85th, 18:13; and Ethan Atwood, 102nd, 19:23.
“That’s not a bad place,’’ Miranov said. “I thought both teams handled the hot conditions pretty well.’’
The EHS harriers go to Putnam City North on Tuesday.
